G4S – Patient Transport Service

This non-emergency patient transport service is for people whose health means they cannot get to or from their NHS appointment in any other way is provided by G4S working in partnership with NHS in Kent and Medway.

To find out if you’re eligible for patient transport or book an appointment by calling the freephone G4S bookings line on 08000 96 02 11 (open 24 hours a day).

G4S staff have details of alternative services for patients who are not eligible, including volunteer driver schemes.

Imago – Dial2Drive (D2D)

"Dial 2 Drive (D2D) is a community transport scheme for people unable to access public transport due to older age, illness or disability living in Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells and the surrounding areas.

Volunteer drivers use their own cars to take clients to medical and social appointments. This includes appointments at local surgeries, hospitals, day centres, hairdressers, opticians, lunch clubs and shopping.

There is an annual membership fee of £20.00. The drives are charged at 65p per mile from the driver's home to completion of journey (driver returning home). We will always try to find a driver who lives closest to the client to keep the costs as low as possible. Volunteer drivers are only expected to wait up to an hour. If your appointment is much longer, you will need to book two separate drives (“double journey”)
We endeavour to keep costs as low as possible and do not make a profit from the scheme."

OR you are aged 85+."

"You must join the scheme to be able to use it. It costs £5 per year and a small fare for each journey.

Carers or companions can also travel. They don't need to be members but companions will need to pay the journey fare and carers can travel for free."

"Transport Services

This is a door-to-door, one-to-one, pick up and deliver safely back home service.
We will take you to any medical appointment, to visit loved-ones, to day care centres or well-being classes and on some occasions to get vital, essential shopping.

The transport service is for those who are:
Adults over 60 years old or with a disability, but they must still be able to get in and out of a car with limited assistance.
Resident in Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley, including all of the surrounding villages.

Clients need to know:
There is an Annual registration charge of £15 per person.
Mileage to the volunteers is paid at 45p per mile (payable to the driver).
An administration charge of £4 per trip is paid (payable to the driver).
Two to three days’ notice is required when booking your drive."

"What is Buses 4U?
Buses 4U is a completely flexible type of local bus service that has no fixed timetable. The route and timings of the bus are determined by the requests made by would-be passengers. This type of bus
service is known as demand responsive transport.

Who can use Buses 4U?
The service is only available to paid-up members of Buses 4U Sevenoaks. Membership is only available to those living in the Sevenoaks District Council area, who do not have access to other bus or rail services. For those with mobility difficulties the buses are fully accessible by means of a passenger lift or ramp.

Where do Buses 4U go?
The bus goes anywhere within the Sevenoaks District Council area as well as destinations just over the western boundary in Surrey. "
